# GhostPin Privacy Policy

## Overview

GhostPin is an anonymous, ephemeral map pin app. Your privacy is fundamental to how GhostPin works. We collect the absolute minimum data needed to operate the app.

## Data We Collect

### Precise Location
- **What:** Your GPS coordinates when you drop a pin
- **Why:** To place your pin on the map and show nearby pins to other users
- **Retention:** Pin locations are permanently deleted when the pin expires (1 hour after creation)
- **Linked to you:** No

### Device Identifier
- **What:** A random identifier generated on your device
- **Why:** To allow you to manage (delete) your own pins
- **Retention:** Stored on your device only. The server associates it with your pins until they expire
- **Linked to you:** No. This identifier cannot be used to identify you personally

### User Content
- **What:** Emoji selection, optional text message, and optional photo attached to a pin
- **Why:** This is the content you choose to share on the map
- **Retention:** Permanently deleted when the pin expires (1 hour after creation)
- **Linked to you:** No

## Data We Do NOT Collect

- Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
- Account credentials (there are no accounts)
- Location history or movement tracking
- Browsing or usage analytics
- Advertising identifiers
- Contact lists or address books
- Financial or payment information

## No Accounts

GhostPin does not require or support user accounts. There is no sign-up, login, or profile creation.

## No Tracking

GhostPin does not track users across apps or websites. We do not use any advertising or analytics SDKs.

## Data Storage

All pin data is stored on Supabase (hosted on AWS). Pins are automatically and permanently deleted from the server after they expire.

## Third-Party Services

- **Supabase:** Database hosting for pin storage. Subject to [Supabase Privacy Policy](https://supabase.com/privacy).
- **Apple MapKit:** Map rendering. Subject to [Apple Privacy Policy](https://www.apple.com/privacy/).

## Children's Privacy

GhostPin does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is rated 12+ due to user-generated content.

## Your Rights

Since GhostPin does not collect personal information or maintain user accounts, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. Pins you create expire automatically within 1 hour.

## Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date above.
