Yeah, the morning temperature and pulse rate check 01:11:28.720 --> 01:11:32.440 is extremely effective, 01:11:32.440 --> 01:11:36.520 but it's good to have a backup blood test. 01:11:36.520 --> 01:11:41.920 Healthy people, I've never seen anyone 01:11:41.920 --> 01:11:46.800 without some of the hypothyroid signs and symptoms. 01:11:46.800 --> 01:11:51.480 If their TSH was very much above 1.0, 01:11:51.480 --> 01:11:58.040 where the normal range goes all the way up to 4 or 5.0. 01:12:00.560 --> 01:12:05.560 And they say it's abnormal to be below 0.4 01:12:05.560 --> 01:12:14.200 at the low end of the range on the TSH. 01:12:14.200 --> 01:12:19.200 But when people have looked at a big population 01:12:19.200 --> 01:12:25.480 and the frequency of thyroid problems, 01:12:25.480 --> 01:12:29.400 such as especially thyroid cancer, 01:12:30.400 --> 01:12:35.400 they found that areas where people 01:12:35.400 --> 01:12:38.880 have no higher than 0.4, 01:12:38.880 --> 01:12:45.600 where everyone was below normal on their TSH, 01:12:45.600 --> 01:12:49.720 meaning by the medical definition 01:12:49.720 --> 01:12:52.240 that they would be hyperthyroid. 01:12:52.240 --> 01:12:55.320 Those people were free of thyroid cancer. 01:12:56.480 --> 01:13:01.480 And what that means is that the chronic cumulative exposure 01:13:01.480 --> 01:13:09.360 of the thyroid gland to the TSH pituitary hormone, 01:13:09.360 --> 01:13:14.960 that is carcinogenic, leads to decomposition, 01:13:14.960 --> 01:13:20.040 formation of nodules in the gland, 01:13:20.040 --> 01:13:23.800 and ultimately a risk of thyroid cancer. 01:13:25.160 --> 01:13:30.160 So it's very good to know what your TSH is, 01:13:30.160 --> 01:13:32.720 even though the doctor's going to tell you 01:13:32.720 --> 01:13:37.720 it's perfectly normal to have 2 or 3 or 4.0 on the test. 01:13:37.720 --> 01:13:44.640 If you also had your cholesterol measured, 01:13:44.640 --> 01:13:52.400 in a large population, the cholesterol rises 01:13:52.720 --> 01:13:56.920 exactly as TSH rises. 01:13:56.920 --> 01:14:01.920 And so as you improve your diet or supplement thyroid 01:14:01.920 --> 01:14:08.600 to reduce other symptoms, such as ovarian reproductive 01:14:08.600 --> 01:14:15.080 problems, as your TSH goes down, 01:14:15.080 --> 01:14:18.800 your cholesterol approaches normal, 01:14:19.680 --> 01:14:23.280 decreases along with the TSH. 01:14:23.280 --> 01:14:24.600 - Oh, yeah. 01:16:42.400 --> 01:16:46.760 - The cholesterol connection is very interesting 01:16:46.760 --> 01:16:49.240 because I have had high cholesterol 01:16:49.240 --> 01:16:52.040 for quite a long time now, and I also have amenorrhea, 01:16:52.040 --> 01:16:54.200 and I kind of never made that connection 01:16:54.200 --> 01:16:57.320 that I have a lot of extra cholesterol in my body 01:16:57.320 --> 01:17:01.080 because my body is not properly converting it into hormones. 01:17:01.080 --> 01:17:03.520 You kind of forget that cholesterol, 01:17:03.520 --> 01:17:04.920 I sometimes forget that cholesterol 01:17:04.920 --> 01:17:06.520 is used to produce these hormones. 01:17:06.520 --> 01:17:10.320 And so it's interesting that cholesterol will drop 01:17:10.320 --> 01:17:14.040 as your hormone-producing capabilities improve. 01:17:14.040 --> 01:17:17.600 And so I'm curious when I test my cholesterol again, 01:17:17.600 --> 01:17:19.960 once I get my period back, 01:17:19.960 --> 01:17:22.840 I'm curious what the level will be then. 01:17:22.840 --> 01:17:28.880 - In an experiment, someone isolated an ovary 01:17:28.880 --> 01:17:33.560 and measured in the vein coming out 01:17:33.560 --> 01:17:36.040 the amount of progesterone, 01:17:36.040 --> 01:17:39.840 and then they varied the amount of cholesterol 01:17:39.840 --> 01:17:43.280 in the artery going into the ovary. 01:17:43.280 --> 01:17:46.280 And as they increased the amount of cholesterol 01:17:46.280 --> 01:17:49.080 in the blood, the amount of progesterone 01:17:49.080 --> 01:17:52.000 coming out of the ovary directly increased. 01:17:52.000 --> 01:17:54.360 - Very interesting. 01:17:54.360 --> 01:18:00.680 - An increase of cholesterol in hypothyroidism 01:18:00.680 --> 01:18:04.840 is exactly because your body needs it 01:18:04.840 --> 01:18:09.200 to make up for the fact that progesterone, 01:18:09.200 --> 01:18:13.200 thyroid is the essential factor 01:18:13.200 --> 01:18:16.760 for making the conversion of cholesterol to progesterone. 01:18:16.760 --> 01:18:21.480 - Okay, and typically will carb diets 01:18:21.480 --> 01:18:22.680 increase your cholesterol? 01:18:22.680 --> 01:18:25.520 - Yeah, I certainly, my cholesterol was a lot higher 01:18:25.520 --> 01:18:29.000 when I was on zero carb, got up to like 490. 01:18:29.000 --> 01:18:31.680 And I don't know, a lot of people 01:18:31.680 --> 01:18:32.760 in the keto carnivore space, 01:18:32.760 --> 01:18:37.600 I even said this, ketone production 01:18:37.600 --> 01:18:40.440 and cholesterol production, LDL cholesterol production 01:18:40.440 --> 01:18:41.960 are on the same pathway. 01:18:41.960 --> 01:18:44.080 And so if you increase your ketone production, 01:18:44.080 --> 01:18:45.680 you will automatically increase 01:18:45.680 --> 01:18:48.120 your LDL production as well. 01:18:48.120 --> 01:18:51.520 So it's just interesting that you see higher cholesterol 01:18:51.520 --> 01:18:55.440 in some of these individuals who are low carb, zero carb. 01:18:55.440 --> 01:18:57.920 I was certainly one of those, what was it called? 01:18:57.920 --> 01:18:59.520 - Yeah, there seems to be some sort of like, 01:20:59.480 --> 01:21:01.600 the argument is there's a like a protective effect 01:21:01.600 --> 01:21:05.600 for LDL cholesterol, it's wrongly demonized. 01:21:05.600 --> 01:21:08.080 - Right, right. 01:21:08.080 --> 01:21:14.000 And estrogen and many toxic substances 01:21:14.000 --> 01:21:19.600 are known to lower the good LDL cholesterol 01:21:19.600 --> 01:21:24.080 and increase the HDL. 01:21:24.080 --> 01:21:29.080 So poisoning can cause what the doctors consider 01:21:29.840 --> 01:21:31.320 a healthy shift. 01:21:31.320 --> 01:21:34.920 -
