## 何が起こっているのか

GitHub はあらゆる人々にとってオープンで自由なプラットフォームでしたが、このたびイラン人のアカウントに対して、オープンソースのエコシステムへの貢献や参加を制限する決定を下しました。米国政府からの圧力を受けて GitHub がこの決定に至った可能性については理解できますが、私たちは GitHub がもっと敬意のある対応をしてくれることを期待していました。

1. GitHub は私たちのプライベートリポジトリへのアクセスを予告無く制限しました。せめて制限を発動する前に注意のアナウンスをしてほしかったです。

2. 米国に拠点を置く他の企業は IP アドレスをもとにイランからのアクセスを規制していますが、GitHub はさらに踏み込み、イランの IP アドレスを過去に使ったことのあるすべてのユーザを、居住地に関わらず制限の対象としました。これは国籍に基づく規制です。

最後に、私たちは GitHub チームに対して、以下のことを望んています:

- 私たちがプライベートのリポジトリや gists をダウンロードしたり、（設定を変更して）パブリックにできるようにすること。**アップデートあり:** プライベートリポジトリをパブリックにできるようになりましたが、プライベートの gists (IDE の設定同期などを含む) については、まだできていません。
- 国籍に基づいてユーザを制限しないよう、規制ポリシーを変更すること。
- 今回の決定を公に発表し、このような状況を招いたことを謝罪すること（以前似たような状況で Slack がしたように: https://slackhq.com/an-apology-and-an-update)。
- **アップデートあり:** 規制アカウントから GitHub pages が使えるようになりました。
