# Anansi data dictionary

before presenting resolved series.

Use when the user asks what a WED code, variable, or unit means, or whenever a
result would otherwise expose opaque series codes as its primary labels.

Read [references/wed-series-codes.md](references/wed-series-codes.md) for the
code grammar and important unit conventions. Use discovery or series metadata
to confirm the live variable name and unit; do not decode unfamiliar variable
segments by guesswork.

Present `country — variable (frequency)` as the main label and show the series
code only secondarily when it helps reproducibility. For a list of codes, group
shared variable, frequency, and unit once instead of repeating them for every
country.
