The Nakung AI Extension is designed with privacy as a core principle:

The Extension processes the following data **LOCALLY** on your device:

#### A. **Problem Information**
- **What:** Title, difficulty, description of coding problems from LeetCode, CodeChef, HackerRank
- **Purpose:** Provide context-aware AI assistance
- **Storage:** Chrome local storage (chrome.storage.local)
- **Retention:** Until you clear browser data or uninstall the extension
- **Sharing:** Never shared with third parties

#### B. **Chat Conversations**
- **What:** Your questions and AI responses during chat sessions
- **Purpose:** Maintain conversation context for better assistance
- **Storage:** Chrome local storage (chrome.storage.local)
- **Retention:** Until you navigate to a different problem or clear browser data
- **Sharing:** Never shared with third parties

#### C. **User Preferences**
- **What:** Selected mode (Partner/Reviewer), UI preferences
- **Purpose:** Remember your settings across sessions
- **Storage:** Chrome local storage (chrome.storage.local)
- **Retention:** Until you clear browser data or uninstall the extension
- **Sharing:** Never shared with third parties

## 3. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

### 3.1 Local Processing

All data mentioned above is:

1. **Stored locally** in your browser using Chrome's storage API
2. **Never uploaded** to external servers except for AI communication
3. **Never sold** or shared with third parties
4. **Automatically deleted** when you clear browser data

### 3.2 AI Communication

When you send a message to the AI:

**What is sent to our backend:**
- Your chat message
- Current problem context (title, difficulty, platform)
- System prompt (based on selected mode)
- Recent conversation history (last 8 messages for context)

**What is NOT sent:**
- Your name, email, or identity
- Your browser history
- Your solutions or code
- Any personal information
- Data from other websites

**Backend processing:**
- Messages are sent to: `https://nakung-backend.vercel.app/api/chat`
- Backend forwards your query to Groq AI API (Llama 3.3 70B model)
- Response is returned to your browser
- **NO LOGGING:** We do not log or store your conversations on the backend
- **NO RETENTION:** Messages are processed in real-time and discarded immediately

## 4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

### 4.1 Groq AI API

Our backend uses Groq AI (https://groq.com) to generate intelligent responses.

**Groq's Privacy:**

- Groq processes AI requests but does not retain user data
- All requests are ephemeral (not stored)

**What Groq receives:**
- Your question text
- Problem context
- System prompts

**What Groq does NOT receive:**
- Personal information
- Browser data
- User identity

### 4.2 Vercel (Hosting)

Our backend is hosted on Vercel (https://vercel.com).

**Vercel's Role:**
- Hosts our API endpoint
- Processes requests transiently
- Does not log personal data

**Transport Security:**
- All communications use HTTPS (TLS encryption)
- Secure backend API endpoint
- No unencrypted data transmission

**Local Security:**
- Data stored using Chrome's secure storage API
- Isolated from other extensions
- Follows Chrome's security model

**Backend Security:**
- Serverless architecture (no persistent database)
- Environment variables secured in Vercel
- API key protection

## 6. YOUR RIGHTS & CONTROLS

### 6.1 Data Access

You can access your locally stored data:
1. Open Chrome DevTools (F12)
2. Go to: Application → Storage → Local Storage
3. Find: Extension storage keys

### 6.2 Data Deletion

You can delete your data at any time:

**Option 1: Clear Specific Extension Data**
1. Right-click extension icon  
2. Manage Extension  
3. Remove extension (clears all data)

**Option 2: Clear Browser Storage**
1. Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security  
2. Clear browsing data  
3. Check "Cookies and other site data"  

**Option 3: Automatic Deletion**
- Data automatically clears when you navigate to a different problem
- Chat history resets per problem

### 6.3 Opt-Out

You can stop using the extension at any time by:
1. Disabling the extension (data remains)
2. Uninstalling the extension (data deleted)

The Extension does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The Extension is designed for:

- College students (18+)
- Job seekers
- Professional developers

If you are under 13, please do not use this Extension.
