# Privacy Policy — Claude Cost Optimiser

## The short version

Claude Cost Optimiser does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any of your data, anywhere, ever. Everything it does happens locally inside your own browser. Nothing you type, paste, or attach on claude.ai is sent to us, to Anthropic, or to any third party by this extension.

## What the extension does

Claude Cost Optimiser reads the content of the page you're currently viewing on claude.ai — your draft prompt, any attached files, your selected model and reasoning-effort level, and the approximate length of your current conversation — in order to estimate, before you send it, how much of your Claude usage quota that prompt is likely to consume. This analysis happens entirely within your browser using local logic. No prompt content, file content, or account information is ever transmitted off your device by this extension.

## What data is stored, and where

The extension stores a small amount of data locally on your own device, using your browser's built-in storage (`chrome.storage`):

- **Settings:** your chosen preferences, such as which severity level should trigger the warning pop-up. This syncs across your own signed-in Chrome browsers via Google's own Chrome Sync, the same way your bookmarks or browsing settings do — it does not pass through us.
- **Usage statistics:** a small local counter (e.g. how many prompts have been analysed, how many suggestions you've applied). This is stored only on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
- **An optional API key**, only if you choose to enable an optional "Smart Mode" feature (off by default). If provided, this key is stored locally only and is never synced or transmitted to us.

None of this data is ever sent to Claude Cost Optimiser's developers, to any analytics service, or to any advertiser.

## What the extension does not do

- It does not use cookies, web beacons, or any tracking technology.
- It does not collect analytics about you or your usage of claude.ai for any purpose beyond the local, on-device statistics described above.
- It does not sell, rent, or share any information with third parties, because it does not collect any information capable of being shared in the first place.
- It does not display advertising.
- It does not use remote code execution; all logic ships as part of the extension package and is reviewed as part of the Chrome Web Store review process.

## Permissions this extension requests, and why

- **`storage`** — used to save your local settings and statistics, described above.
- **Host access to `claude.ai`** — used to read the page content described above (your draft prompt, attachments, model/effort selection, conversation length) so the extension can estimate cost before you send a message. The extension does not have, and does not request, access to any other website.

## Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same location with a revised "last updated" date, and — for any material change — noted in the extension's release notes.
