# WhipDesk trademark policy "WhipDesk" and the WhipDesk logo are trademarks of BinaryBanana LLC. The [AGPL-3.0](LICENSE) license covers the source code, not the brand. You're free to use, modify, and redistribute the code under its terms — the trademarks are not part of that grant. This is the same split projects like Firefox and Grafana use: open code, protected name. ## You may, without asking - Use the name to truthfully refer to the project — "works with WhipDesk", "based on WhipDesk source code", blog posts, reviews, tutorials, academic work. - Keep the name in an unmodified build, including packaging unmodified releases for a distribution repository. - Keep the name in a private fork, or one that exists to develop patches you intend to submit upstream. ## You may not, without written permission - Distribute a modified version under the WhipDesk name or logo. - Offer a product or network service under the WhipDesk name — or a confusingly similar one — that isn't operated by BinaryBanana LLC. - Use the marks in a way that suggests endorsement by, or affiliation with, BinaryBanana LLC. If you fork WhipDesk to build your own thing, that's what the AGPL is for — just pick your own name and logo so users always know whose software they're running and who stands behind it.
