It addresses several MSFD biodiversity and food-web indicators of Ecological Objectives 05 and 07 adopted by the Contracting Parties of UNEP/MAP (2013).\r\nThe physicochemical parameters of the water column include master-variables that control the productivity of the food web and the habitability of the water column. Establishing baseline values at suitable reference stations can already be achieved from existing data for coastal waters (UNEP/MAP, WFD, and Nitrates Directive monitoring) as well as territorial waters for some parameters (MedITS).
