4External signals — vendor roadmaps & benchmarks

Public information gathered via web search; each item notes its relevance to the programme.

Microsoft Foundry Agent Service replaces Azure OpenAI Assistants API

Microsoft documentation states the Assistants API was retired on 26 August 2026 and directs customers to the generally available Foundry Agents service with a migration guide; other Azure OpenAI capabilities are unaffected.

Impact: Confirms R2. Any S2P/agent workloads still on Assistants API are now non-functional.

Microsoft Q&A — Assistants API retirement (Feb 2026)

Microsoft Agent 365 — generally available 1 May 2026

Agent 365 is positioned as the control plane to observe, govern and secure agents. Priced at USD 15 per user/month standalone or included in Microsoft 365 E7. Previews: shadow-agent discovery via Defender/Intune (June 2026), registry sync with AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud, Windows 365 for Agents.

Impact: Directly supports ZAG-6 (agent registration & verification) and AI Agent Central v3’s Agent 365 integration; licensing cost should be added to the roadmap budget.

Gartner: >40% of agentic AI projects cancelled by end-2027

Gartner predicts over 40% of agentic AI projects will be cancelled by the end of 2027 due to escalating costs, unclear business value or inadequate risk controls.

Impact: Reinforces the need to close ZAG-5 compliance criteria and the “Establish metrics and KPI linkage” deliverable before scaling agents.

ERP implementation timeline benchmarks (2026)

Industry guidance: SMB cloud deployments 3–6 months; mid-market typically 9–12 months to go-live plus 2–3 months stabilisation; enterprise multi-entity rollouts 12–24 months. Selection and planning should begin 6–12 months before implementation start.

Impact: Contoso’s 24-month go-live target (SoW §6) sits at the upper enterprise bound for a ~350-user greenfield SaaS scope — schedule has headroom, but vendor selection (R1) is the critical path.

5Data coverage & gaps

What was searched: Outlook inbox (60 most recent messages since 10 Aug 2026 plus topic searches), Teams channels for AI Agent Central, Absolute Technology R400 Infrastructure and FCS Application Upgrade, 1:1 chat with Adil Eli, SharePoint/OneDrive files, and meeting transcripts.
Gaps: No meeting transcripts or calendar events were found between May and September 2026, so no transcript-derived decisions are included. The roadmap Loop pages (milestones, KPI linkage, leadership review) could not be opened for full text — only their titles and summaries are reflected. Most programme evidence comes from automated digests and system notifications rather than direct stakeholder updates; please validate RAG ratings with workstream leads.
