Simple Guide to using Git

Prerequisites:
Windows: git: https://git-scm.com/downloads/win

macOS & Linux distros: none
	unless distro doesn’t have linux installed yet download git: 
	https://git-scm.com/downloads

Open up CMD or Terminal and add your username and email to your machine:

> git config --global user.name “your-git-username”
> git config --global user.email "email@example.com"

This makes sure every commit you make is linked to your GitHub account

Cloning and pulling from repos
> git clone https://repo-link - This allows you to clone your repo from GitHub
> git pull - This allows you to any changes you made on GitHub

Committing / Adding changes to your repo
> git add .
> git commit -m “your message”
> git push -u origin master
* At this step the terminal or CMD might ask your for your git password
Once everything is committed, you can view it on GitHub.

Once it’s pushed you can view it on GitHub
