A truncated firmware image\ncan make the parser read beyond the copied firmware buffer. A value\nsmaller than the four-byte count field also underflows, producing a very\nlarge length.\n\nRead the little-endian field with get_unaligned_le32(), as previously\nproposed by David Lechner. Validate the header size, reject an\nunderflowed length, ensure the resulting payload is contained in the\nfirmware image, and require it to contain whole register/value entries." } ], "affected": [ { "product": "Linux", "vendor": "Linux", "defaultStatus": "unaffected", "repo": "https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git", "programFiles": [ "drivers/iio/proximity/aw96103.c" ], "versions": [ { "version": "07b241262dcad07671c444ca955903325de28e9e", "lessThan": "4a9b9f2d4e26589afd0ac099c8e5593170dd5ac7", "status": "affected", "versionType": "git" }, { "version": "07b241262dcad07671c444ca955903325de28e9e", "lessThan": "6501b032be217ecf47e793b78a05078cf0b604ad", "status": "affected", "versionType": "git" }, { "version": "07b241262dcad07671c444ca955903325de28e9e", "lessThan": "815ae0b73b69ace207b6bbf7ef428b06491c3ddb", "status": "affected", "versionType": "git" }, { "version": "07b241262dcad07671c444ca955903325de28e9e", "lessThan": "1a7c522a35477d70320bd64aba8e9de0c1058c6f", "status": "affected", "versionType": "git" } ] }, { "product": "Linux", "vendor": "Linux", "defaultStatus": "affected", "repo": "https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git", "programFiles": [ "drivers/iio/proximity/aw96103.c" ], "versions": [ { "version": "6.12", "status": "affected" }, { "version": "0", "lessThan": "6.12", "status": "unaffected", "versionType": "semver" }, { "version": "6.12.113", "lessThanOrEqual": "6.12.*", "status": "unaffected", "versionType": "semver" }, { "version": "6.18.56", "lessThanOrEqual": "6.18.*", "status": "unaffected", "versionType": "semver" }, { "version": "7.2.10", "lessThanOrEqual": "7.2.*", "status": "unaffected", "versionType": "semver" }, { "version": "7.3", "lessThanOrEqual": "*", "status": "unaffected", "versionType": "original_commit_for_fix" } ] } ], "cpeApplicability": [ { "nodes": [ { "operator": "OR", "negate": false, "cpeMatch": [ { "vulnerable": true, "criteria": "cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*", "versionStartIncluding": "6.12", "versionEndExcluding": "6.12.113" }, { "vulnerable": true, "criteria": "cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*", "versionStartIncluding": "6.12", "versionEndExcluding": "6.18.56" }, { "vulnerable": true, "criteria": "cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*", "versionStartIncluding": "6.12", "versionEndExcluding": "7.2.10" }, { "vulnerable": true, "criteria": "cpe:2.3:o:linux:linux_kernel:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*", "versionStartIncluding": "6.12", "versionEndExcluding": "7.3" } ] } ] } ], "references": [ { "url": "https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4a9b9f2d4e26589afd0ac099c8e5593170dd5ac7" }, { "url": "https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/6501b032be217ecf47e793b78a05078cf0b604ad" }, { "url": "https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/815ae0b73b69ace207b6bbf7ef428b06491c3ddb" }, { "url": "https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1a7c522a35477d70320bd64aba8e9de0c1058c6f" } ], "title": "iio: proximity: aw96103: validate firmware data length", "x_generator": { "engine": "bippy-1.2.0" } } } }
