# Privacy Policy Effective date: April 21, 2026 Should I Buy This? (the "Extension") is a browser extension that helps users evaluate product pages and may use affiliate links. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension processes, how that data is used, and your choices. ## 1. Scope This Privacy Policy applies to the Extension and its related in-extension features. ## 2. Data We Process The Extension processes the following categories of data: 1. Product page data (on supported pages) - Product details detected from the current page, such as title, price, original price (if available), rating, review count, URL, category, source, image URL, stock indicator, and description. 2. Decision and diagnostics data stored locally - Decision history generated by the Extension (recommendation level, confidence, reasons, and related decision fields). - Affiliate click records (timestamp, ASIN when available, outbound URL). - Diagnostic/telemetry events used for product detection and decision quality (event type, timestamp, source, URL, optional details). - User preferences you set (for example max price, categories, and brands). 3. Affiliate parameters - When applicable, the Extension can append affiliate tracking parameters (for example an Amazon Associates tag) to purchase links. ## 3. How We Use Data We use processed data to: 1. Analyze supported product pages and generate buy guidance. 2. Save your local decision history and preferences. 3. Record local diagnostics to improve reliability and explain lower-confidence outputs. 4. Build and open affiliate links when you choose to proceed to purchase. ## 4. Storage and Retention Data is stored in browser extension local storage (`chrome.storage.local`) on your device. Current built-in retention limits in the Extension include: 1. Affiliate click history: up to 200 most recent entries. 2. Diagnostic/telemetry history: up to 300 most recent entries. You can remove stored data by clearing extension storage (for example by uninstalling the Extension, using browser extension data controls, or by any in-extension clear-data feature if provided). ## 5. Data Sharing and Transfers The Extension is designed so that decision history, preferences, affiliate click logs, and diagnostic event logs remain local to your browser by default. The Extension does not include built-in third-party analytics or ad SDK network transmission in the current implementation. When you open an outbound purchase link, your browser connects directly to the destination website, and that website's own privacy policy applies. ## 6. Affiliate Disclosure The Extension may use affiliate links. This means we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. ## 7. Legal Basis and Regional Disclosures Where applicable (including UK/EU), processing is based on: 1. Performance of the service you request (analyzing product pages and showing recommendations). 2. Legitimate interests (maintaining functionality, security, and diagnostics). 3. Consent where required by law. ## 8. Your Choices and Rights Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, delete, or restrict processing of personal data. Because the Extension stores data locally, many controls are available directly through your browser and extension settings. To request assistance regarding privacy rights, use the contact method below. ## 9. Children's Privacy The Extension is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. ## 10. Security We take reasonable measures to protect data handled by the Extension. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. ## 11. Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post updates in this file and revise the effective date. ## 12.
