# Third-Party Licenses ClypDat bundles the following third-party components in its distributed builds (zip, portable exe, installer, and MSI). This file exists to satisfy their license terms, particularly the source-availability and notice requirements of the GPL/LGPL-licensed components below. ## LibVLC / LibVLCSharp (LGPL-2.1-or-later) ClypDat's editor playback uses LibVLC (via the `VideoLAN.LibVLC.Windows` and `LibVLCSharp` / `LibVLCSharp.Avalonia` NuGet packages), licensed under the **GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or later**. - Project: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc and https://code.videolan.org/videolan/LibVLCSharp - LibVLC is used as a dynamically-loaded shared library (`libvlc.dll`), consistent with LGPL's linking terms. - The LGPL-2.1 text is included below. ## ClypDat D3D11 video-output plugin (LGPL-2.1-or-later) The editor bundles a modified VideoLAN D3D11 output pinned to VLC commit `79128878ddb2c280bbb6c89c76a46b31a80ade1c` (the core in NuGet 3.0.23.1). Original notices, modified source, native compositor, bridge and build scripts are included in `native/video-output-native` in this repository. See its `vendor/vlc/UPSTREAM.md` for provenance and modification details. Distributed builds include that notice and the LGPL text under `licenses/`. ## ScreenRecorderLib (MIT) ClypDat's legacy Windows Capture backend uses `ScreenRecorderLib` by Sverre Kristoffer Skodje, licensed under the **MIT License**. - Project: https://github.com/sskodje/ScreenRecorderLib ## Avalonia UI (MIT) ClypDat's user interface is built on the Avalonia UI framework, licensed under the **MIT License**. - Project: https://github.com/AvaloniaUI/Avalonia ## NAudio (MIT) ClypDat's audio capture/mixing (editor playback and the Windows Capture backend's audio routing) uses NAudio, licensed under the **MIT License**. - Project: https://github.com/naudio/NAudio ## Markdig (BSD-2-Clause) Release-note formatting uses Markdig by Alexandre Mutel, licensed under the **BSD 2-Clause License**. - Project: https://github.com/xoofx/markdig - The BSD-2-Clause text is included in `licenses/Markdig-BSD-2-Clause.txt`. ## ffmpeg / ffprobe (GPL) ClypDat bundles `ffmpeg.exe` and `ffprobe.exe` (the gyan.dev "essentials" Windows build, version **8.1.2**) so muxing, probing, and thumbnail/ waveform generation work without a separate ffmpeg install. This build is compiled with `--enable-gpl`, **`--enable-version3`**, and `--enable-libx264`, so the distributed binaries are licensed under the **GPL version 3 or later** rather than GPLv2 - `--enable-version3` opts in components whose terms are GPLv3-or-later, which upgrades the licence of the combined work. ClypDat is itself GPLv3 (see `LICENSE`), so this is not a licensing conflict, but the governing version stated here has to be right. The exact build shipped in this repository, for CVE tracking and provenance: | File | SHA-256 | | --- | --- | | `ffmpeg.exe` | `1326dde4c84ff1f96fe6b8916c5bed29e163e9b5dccf995f6f3db069d143ec5e` | | `ffprobe.exe` | `b49ccc7c6547b141ad5a2f6ec69cc04323d7133d7704d70b331b904c63eecb07` | Reported version string: `ffmpeg version 8.1.2-essentials_build-www.gyan.dev`. ffmpeg is a combination of many components under a mix of GPLv2, GPLv2-or-later, and GPLv3-or-later terms depending on build configuration; see https://ffmpeg.org/legal.html for the authoritative per-component breakdown for this exact configuration. - Project: https://ffmpeg.org and https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg - Build source: https://www.gyan.dev/ffmpeg/builds (see that page's "Git Windows builds" section for the exact commit each release is built from) - The governing licence for these binaries is GPLv3-or-later (see `--enable-version3` above). The GPLv2 text below is retained for the components that remain under GPLv2; the full GPLv3 text is at https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.html and in ClypDat's own `LICENSE`. - ClypDat does not modify these binaries. ClypDat's experimental "ClypDat" capture backend additionally bundles the **shared-library** build of the same ffmpeg version (`avcodec-62.dll`, `avformat-62.dll`, `avutil-60.dll`, `swscale-9.dll`, `swresample-6.dll`, also from gyan.dev), P/Invoked directly (via `FFmpeg.AutoGen`) instead of shelled out to as a separate process. Same GPLv3/libx264 build configuration and terms as above; ClypDat is GPLv3-licensed itself (see `LICENSE`), so directly linking a GPL component is not a licensing conflict. ## Vortice.Windows (MIT) The native capture backend's DXGI/Direct3D11 interop (`Vortice.Direct3D11`, `Vortice.DXGI`) uses Vortice.Windows, licensed under the **MIT License**. - Project: https://github.com/amerkoleci/Vortice.Windows ## FFmpeg.AutoGen (MIT) The native capture backend's direct libavcodec/libavformat P/Invoke bindings use FFmpeg.AutoGen, licensed under the **MIT License**. This covers only the C# binding code itself; the underlying ffmpeg binaries it calls into are covered under "ffmpeg / ffprobe (GPL)" above. - Project: https://github.com/Ruslan-B/FFmpeg.AutoGen --- ## GPLv2 full text A copy of the GNU General Public License v2.0 is available at https://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/gpl-2.0.html and is reproduced in `licenses/GPL-2.0.txt` in this repository. ## LGPL-2.1 full text A copy of the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 is available at https://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/lgpl-2.1.html and is reproduced in `licenses/LGPL-2.1.txt` in this repository. ## RNNoise and model `lq.rnnn` (BSD-3-Clause; model licence not asserted) `rnnoise/lq.rnnn` is the "leavened-quisling" model from https://github.com/GregorR/rnnoise-models, trained with the rnnoise-nu tools for a voice signal against general background noise. It is loaded by ffmpeg's `arnndn` filter to drive microphone noise suppression. That repository carries no LICENSE file and declares no licence. Its README states: "With the exception of the tools/ directory and this file, none of this work is creative and thus none of it is subject to copyright." That is the author's own position on copyrightability, not a formal licence or a public-domain dedication, and it is reproduced here as such rather than restated as one. The model file is shipped byte-for-byte unmodified. RNNoise is licensed under BSD-3-Clause. Its full license text is reproduced in `licenses/RNNoise-BSD-3-Clause.txt`. The `arnndn` filter that consumes the model is part of ffmpeg's libavfilter, already covered by the ffmpeg entry above.
