# Terms of Service for aShell You **Effective Date:** September 12, 2026
**Last Updated:** September 12, 2026
**Contact:** [hridayanofficial@gmail.com](mailto:hridayanofficial@gmail.com) Welcome to **aShell You** (the "App"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the aShell You Android application developed by DP Hridayan ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you explicitly agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. --- ## 1. Nature of the Application & Assumption of Risk aShell You is a powerful developer tool that provides a privileged interface capable of issuing low-level Android system commands via Root (libsu), Shizuku (Binder-based shell), and ADB (Android Debug Bridge). ### 1.1 Irreversible Actions and Device Damage You acknowledge and agree that executing shell commands can bypass standard Android security sandboxes. Certain commands can result in: * Irreversible data loss. * System instability, boot loops, or operating system corruption. * Permanent hardware damage ("bricking"). * Voiding of your device manufacturer’s warranty. ### 1.2 Absolute Disclaimer of Liability **YOU USE THIS APP ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.** We assume **ZERO LIABILITY** for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the App or the execution of any commands (whether typed manually, selected from presets, or generated by the AI Assistant). --- ## 2. Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) aShell You is intended for legitimate system administration, development, debugging, and customization. You agree **NOT** to use the App to: * Develop, test, distribute, or facilitate malware, spyware, ransomware, or any malicious software. * Attempt to bypass Digital Rights Management (DRM), software licensing, or security controls. * Engage in illegal hacking, cracking, or unauthorized penetration testing. * Connect to, exploit, or sideload files onto any device that you do not own or do not have explicit, lawful authorization to access. * Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation. We reserve the right to report abusive behavior to relevant authorities if we become aware of illegal activity. --- ## 3. AI Assistant & Autonomous Tool Execution *Note: This section applies only to the GitHub build of the App. The F-Droid (FOSS) build does not include AI capabilities.* The AI Assistant in aShell You is powered by third-party Large Language Models (e.g., Google Gemini) and is equipped with programmable "AI Skills" (Tools) that can interact deeply with your device. ### 3.1 Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) You must provide your own API key to use the AI Assistant. You are strictly and solely responsible for: * All API quotas, usage limits, and billing costs associated with your key. * Adherence to the [Google Gemini API Terms of Service](https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms) (or the terms of the respective provider you configure). ### 3.2 Granular Consent and AI Skill Toggles The AI's capabilities are grouped into modular "AI Skills" (e.g., Command Execution, Device Diagnostics, Packages). These can be individually toggled in the App's settings. * **Explicit Consent:** By enabling a specific AI Skill, you actively consent to the AI accessing those privileged systems. * **Revocation:** If you do not want the AI to have access to these capabilities, you must disable the respective skill toggles in the settings. ### 3.3 AI Autonomy and Liability If you grant the AI "auto-execute" permissions for commands, or if you leave the Command Execution skill enabled, **you assume 100% of the risk for any action the AI takes.** We do not guarantee the safety, correctness, or intent of AI-generated actions. AI models can hallucinate or produce destructive commands. You must review commands before execution whenever prompted. ### 3.4 Sensitive Data Exposure via Logcat Enabling the "Device Diagnostics" AI skill allows the AI to use the `GetStructuredLogcatTool` to read your system-wide logs (Logcat). * **Warning:** Logcat frequently contains highly sensitive personal information, authentication tokens, session IDs, and private data emitted by *other* apps on your device. * **Data Transmission:** If the AI reads this data, it is transmitted to your configured AI provider (e.g., Google's Gemini servers) for processing. * We are not responsible for the leakage, transmission, or mishandling of third-party app data resulting from your use of this tool. Disable this skill if you require strict privacy. --- ## 4. Third-Party Integrations & Cloud Services *Note: This section applies only to the GitHub build of the App.* ### 4.1 Google Drive Backups The App offers cloud backups via Google Drive. We do not guarantee the uptime, reliability, or security of Google Drive. If a cloud backup is corrupted, lost, or inaccessible, we are not liable. You are encouraged to maintain local backups. Your use of this feature is subject to [Google's Terms of Service](https://policies.google.com/terms). ### 4.2 GitHub API The App utilizes the GitHub API to check for updates. We do not guarantee the availability of this service. --- ## 5. Local Network Security The App uses mDNS to broadcast its presence and connects via TCP/IP for Wireless ADB and sideloading. * **Your Responsibility:** You are responsible for ensuring you are on a secure, trusted local network (and not public Wi-Fi) when utilizing Wireless ADB. * We are not liable for any interception, unauthorized access, or man-in-the-middle attacks if you connect on an insecure or compromised network. --- ## 6. Open Source Licensing (GPLv3) The source code of aShell You is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPLv3). * These Terms of Service govern your use of the compiled application as a service/tool provided by DP Hridayan, specifically regarding liability, external APIs, and cloud integrations. * Your rights to view, modify, and distribute the *source code* itself remain fully protected under the GPLv3. * As stated in the GPLv3, the software is provided **"AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND**, express or implied. --- ## 7. Modifications to the Terms We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms of Service at any time without prior notice. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. --- ## 8.
