Jot things down during the day without minding the spelling, and in the evening turn the notes into a page: by yourself, or with an AI that only orders and smooths and invents nothing. Every person sees only their own diary, and the operator manages the accounts without ever seeing what is written in them. Every day gets a cover picture (your own photo or one of 256 drawn illustrations), values from 1 to 10 for whatever you want to rate, a question of the day for when nothing comes to mind, a journal as a blog or a timeline with search, and statistics worked out on the server from your own days only. Single days can be shared with chosen people of the family, read-only, with a heart as the only reaction. Photos can come from your own Immich. Reminders arrive by Web Push, and the app installs to the home screen of a phone. Everything you write is encrypted in the database with a key of each person. A second factor is required from the start, passkeys are supported, and accounts come by invitation or through OpenID Connect (one-button setup for authentik). The AI is off until the operator chooses a service, a local model works, and nothing is sent without a press of the button. German and English, light and dark, five colours. Open the WebUI and create the first account; it becomes the operator. It needs the setup code from the container log (click the nexdiary icon, then Logs), a new one at every start until nexdiary is set up. To choose the code yourself, set Setup Code below. Right after the password the account sets up its second factor. Put nexdiary behind a reverse proxy with TLS before you use it from anywhere but your own network, then set Public URL and Trusted Proxies. Passkeys and reminders by push need https. All data lives under /data: the SQLite database, the photos, secret.key, backups and logs. Keep it on a local disk, never on an SMB or NFS share, because SQLite locking is not reliable over network filesystems. Everything people write is encrypted, and the master key for that lies in /data/keys/master.key. Save a copy of it apart from your backups (Settings, Backups, Encryption): without it no backup can be read. Set PUID and PGID to the user that should own the files. 99 and 100 are the Unraid defaults and work out of the box. bridge [PORT:8550] 8000 tcp /mnt/user/appdata/nexdiary /data rw 99PUID 100PGID TZ NEXDIARY_SETUP_TOKEN NEXDIARY_PUBLIC_URL NEXDIARY_TRUSTED_PROXIES NEXDIARY_PORT NEXDIARY_SECRET_KEY autoNEXDIARY_COOKIE_SECURE 8550 /mnt/user/appdata/nexdiary 99 100 auto
