One container, no Redis, no Celery and no Postgres, and an import that takes over what you already have in Paperless-ngx. Everything new waits in an inbox with the fields filled in, whether it came from the browser, a photo taken on the phone, a scanner's folder, a mailbox or Paperless, and one click files it. Scans are read and become searchable PDFs while the original stays exactly as it came, with its checksum. The search understands parts of words and filters. Pages can be turned, deleted, ordered, joined and split, and every change is a new version. Everybody has a vault of their own, the operator makes shared ones for the household or the business, and single documents can be shared with a person or, for somebody without an account, as a link that ends. For small firms, e-invoices (ZUGFeRD, Factur-X, XRechnung) are read from their data, a history shows who changed what, and an export for the tax adviser is a ZIP with the PDFs and a list. A second factor is required from the start, passkeys are supported, and accounts come by invitation or through OpenID Connect (one-button setup for authentik). An open API serves the apps that will come. nexpaper is an independent project and not affiliated with Paperless-ngx. An inbox with proposals, text recognition and full text search, vaults per person and shared ones, a phone upload with camera, e-invoices and an import from Paperless-ngx. Open the WebUI and create the first account; it becomes the operator. It needs the setup code from the container log (click the nexpaper icon, then Logs), a new one at every start until nexpaper is set up. To choose the code yourself, set Setup Code below. Right after the password the account sets up its second factor. Put nexpaper behind a reverse proxy with TLS before you use it from anywhere but your own network, then set Public URL and Trusted Proxies. Passkeys, the camera and the share menu of a phone need https. All data lives under /data: the SQLite database, the documents as plain readable files in /data/dokumente, secret.key, backups and logs. Keep it on a local disk, never on an SMB or NFS share, because SQLite locking is not reliable over network filesystems. A backup holds the database and the server's secrets but not the documents, so /data/dokumente belongs in the backup your server makes anyway. To let a scanner or a share drop files into nexpaper, add another Path below that maps your scan folder to /data/eingang (one subfolder per person), then switch the intake folder on in Settings, Inputs. Set PUID and PGID to the user that should own the files. 99 and 100 are the Unraid defaults and work out of the box. bridge [PORT:8560] 8000 tcp /mnt/user/appdata/nexpaper /data rw 99PUID 100PGID TZ NEXPAPER_SETUP_TOKEN NEXPAPER_PUBLIC_URL NEXPAPER_TRUSTED_PROXIES NEXPAPER_PORT NEXPAPER_SECRET_KEY autoNEXPAPER_COOKIE_SECURE 8560 /mnt/user/appdata/nexpaper 99 100 auto
