# FridgeBuddy Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 3, 2026

FridgeBuddy is a local-first food-expiry and fridge-inventory app. This policy explains how the current Android release handles information.

## Information stored on your device

FridgeBuddy stores the information you enter, such as fridge and compartment names, food items, quantities, dates, reminder preferences, notes, and product profiles, in the app's local storage on your device. Optional compartment photos are also stored locally on your device.

The current release does not provide account sign-in, cloud sync, household sharing, advertising, analytics, or a developer-operated server that receives this information.

## Barcode lookup and camera use

FridgeBuddy can use your camera to scan a barcode and can use your device's photo picker or camera to add an optional compartment photo. Camera images are used on your device for these features.

When you choose barcode lookup, FridgeBuddy may send the barcode number to public product-lookup services to retrieve product information. The barcode number and the returned product information are handled according to the applicable service's privacy practices. You can add items manually instead.

## Notifications

If you allow notifications, FridgeBuddy schedules food-expiry reminders locally on your device. Notification permission is used only to show those reminders.

## Import, export, and sharing

FridgeBuddy can export a locally stored fridge pack when you explicitly choose to share it. The contents of an exported file depend on the information you include in your fridge. The app does not transmit an export unless you select a destination through your device's sharing tools. The receiving app or service handles the shared file under its own privacy practices.

## Data retention and deletion

You can delete information from FridgeBuddy within the app. Uninstalling the app removes its app-private local data from your device, subject to your device and operating-system backup settings.

## Data sales and sharing

FridgeBuddy does not sell your personal information. Apart from the optional barcode lookup and the user-initiated sharing described above, the current release does not share the local information you store in the app with the developer or third parties.

## Changes to this policy

If FridgeBuddy's data practices change, this policy will be updated before the changed release is made available.
