Sale of slaves.

Know all men by these Presents that I have this day bargained and sold to Robert Wash of St Louis the five slaves following to wit: l;st Richmond about the age of eighteen years; 2;nd Ellick about the age of twenty five 3;rd Little Bill, about the age of twenty five 4;th Ralph—about the age of thirty and 5;th Baptiste—about the age of fourteen for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five hundred dollars to me in hand paid by the said R Wash the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged; The said slaves to be delivered to the said Wash on the twenty second day of April next and in the mean time to continue and remain in the hands and possession of the said Moses [Austin] at the hire of fifty dollars per month.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of February eighteen hundred and eighteen.
