Dear Sir
Although to you Almost a stranger, yet I can Cordially
commisserate with you on the loss of your venerable parent who was my
true friend—
But to Heavens high Decrees we must submit let us do it patiently
My business with you is this I have a son who feels anxious to go
to your Country, Texas, I do not wish him to go unprotected or
unemployed I would have confided him to your father and I am
willing to confide him to you He is young—21 he has a good
English Education and understands Surveying he is sober and yet
uncontaminated with vice, he is active and faithful, I wish to
confer with you on your arrival here as I feel something disposed
to remove to that country I expect you will write me the moment
you arrive as your Ma has spoken to me to pronounce a funeral
