Dear Sir I recd yours of the 17th of August also two leters from my son James the[y] lay some time in the Post office of Durango, I am extreamly hapy to hear from my family, I am sorey for the Loss you have sustained in the Death of your father, I hope you May suekseed to the utmost of your Expectations in this Country, I Presume before this you are Informed of every thing that has taken Place in this County of a Political Nature, by the last Mail we recd Dispatches of the Government Informing that Mexico and Vera Cruz was at the Disposition of the Independentes and Electiones was taking Plase for Members of the Congress to meet in Mexico I Expect to set out Next week for the united States I am in hopes I will be able to Join you in San Antonio, I take the Liberty of Recommending to your care and Protection my son James he is a young man I Presume of but Little Experience in the world, when we meet I Presume I shall be able to give you aney information Respecting this Country that you may desire.
