enclosed I Send you the Result of the Election held by your order
for the upper Detachment of the Colorado District. Mr Burnum
has Counted the men subject to military duty and finds there is
about thirty able to Bear arms, and, we expect more dayly and I
believe there are as many in the lower detachment; The people
in the upper detachmt are all well pleased with the division that
you have made. I wrote you by Carrete that they wanted a division
but I Expect you had not Received it before you sent on the order
for an Election—
