The Lands situated within the Ten Leagues bordering on the
Coast of the Gulf of Mexico, between the Rivers Brazos and
Colorado, are in part colonized by me, under the grant already made to
me by the Supreme Government of Mexico, but as some of these lands
within the said Ten Leagues of the Coast border ,are yet vacant, and
as the annexation of the said Ten Coast border Leagues to the
District which the Government of Coahuila and Texas has assigned me
for the settlement of the Five Hundred families I have engaged to
introduce, is highly important to the prosperity of the new Colony,
I therefore pray the Government to grant me permission to colonize
the Ten Leagues of the Coast border within the following limits, viz.,
Beginning at a point on the Eastern bank of the River La Bacawhere
it is intersected by the boundary line of the said Ten Border Leagues ;
thence Eastly with the Northern boundary line of the Border leagues
to the river San Jacinto, and thence West with the Coast to the
mouth of the aforesaid river La Vaca, and thence up said river to
place of beginning, comprising all the vacant lands of the Ten Coast
border leaguesbetween the aforesaid rivers La Baca and San Jacinto,
and that the said Border Leagues be annexed to the aforesaid Colony,
and settled on the same terms stipulated with the Government of the
State of Coahuila and Texas for the said Colony of five hundred
families.
