Gentlemen,

There are various little articles, which are indispensable in the Offices of the different Departments, and the impossibility of obtaining them here is my apology for troubling you with them. You would oblige me by procuring such as are enumerated in the subjoined list, and having them directed to the Department of State, Columbia. An early attention to this request will relieve the Government from much inconvenience.
