# Mint & Redeem frxUSD Overview

frxUSD can be minted and redeemed through multiple pathways, offering users flexibility in how they access and utilize the stablecoin. This overview covers the main minting and redemption methods available.

## frxUSD Minting & Redeeming on Ethereum

The most straightforward way to mint and redeem frxUSD is through direct interaction with the frxUSD Mint & Redeem contracts on Ethereum mainnet.

### Supported Assets for Minting

frxUSD can be minted using any of these assets:

- **Stablecoins**: USDC, USDB
- **Tokenized Treasuries**: BUIDL (by BlackRock), USTB (by Superstate), WTGXX (by WisdomTree)

### How It Works

1. **Approve your asset** for the frxUSD minting contract
2. **Deposit your asset** to mint frxUSD at a 1:1 ratio
3. **Hold frxUSD** to earn Treasury yields automatically via [FraxNet](https://net.frax.com)
4. **Redeem anytime** by converting frxUSD back to your chosen asset

### Direct frxUSD → USDC Redemption

frxUSD can also be redeemed directly for USDC in a single transaction via the [ERC4626RedeemUSTB contract](/frxusd/mint-and-redeem-routes#direct-frxusd--usdc-redemption-via-ustb), which routes the redemption through Superstate's USTB behind the scenes — no USTB onboarding required.

## Cross-Chain Minting & Redeeming with FraxNet

### Overview

### How Cross-Chain Minting Works

Mint frxUSD across 20+ supported blockchain networks with the following steps:

1. **Contract Deployment**: Deploy a FraxNet contract via the factory on Ethereum mainnet for a specific recipient address and destination chain
2. **Asset Transfer**: Transfer USDC directly to your deployed FraxNet contract on Ethereum mainnet
3. **Cross-Chain Minting**: Using the transferred USDC, mint frxUSD to the specified recipient address and destination chain

### How Cross-Chain Redemption Works

Redeem frxUSD on 20+ supported blockchain networks with the following steps:

1. **Cross-Chain Transfer**: Send frxUSD on any supported blockchain network back to your FraxNet contract on Ethereum mainnet via a [cross-chain transfer](/frxusd/cross-chain-transfers-quickstarts/transfer-from-evm)
2. **Asset Conversion**: Call `processRedemption` to convert frxUSD back to USDC
3. **Asset Delivery**: Receive USDC directly to your specified address on Ethereum mainnet or any [supported CCTP chains](https://developers.circle.com/cctp/cctp-supported-blockchains)

## Fiat On-Ramp & Off-Ramp with FraxNet

FraxNet provides direct fiat-to-frxUSD and frxUSD-to-fiat pathways, allowing users to convert between traditional currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, MXN, BRL) and frxUSD without needing to hold intermediate crypto assets.

### On-Ramp: Fiat to frxUSD

Two methods are available for converting fiat currency into frxUSD:

- **Virtual Accounts (Bank Transfer)**: Create a permanent virtual bank account that accepts ACH or Wire deposits. Funds are automatically converted to frxUSD and delivered to your wallet on your chosen destination chain.
- **Coinbase Pay**: Purchase frxUSD directly using credit/debit cards, ACH, or bank wire through the integrated Coinbase Pay widget.

### Off-Ramp: frxUSD to Fiat

- **Bank Transfer (Wire/ACH)**: Connect a U.S. bank account via Plaid and send frxUSD to your liquidation address. Funds are automatically converted to USD and transferred to your bank via ACH or wire.

### KYC Verification Required

Fiat on-ramp and off-ramp services require identity verification through Persona (KYC/KYB) and Bridge.xyz before use. Both individual and business verification types are supported.
