Privacy Policy for Nervus Last updated: July 7, 2026 This Privacy Policy explains how Nervus ("Nervus," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects information when you use the Nervus app, website, and related services, including Nerves discussions, People Choice, Big Nervus, creator features, wallets, coins, gems, paid votes, gifts, ads, notifications, and AI-assisted features such as Gemini Justice. Information we collect We collect information you provide directly, information created when you use Nervus, and information collected automatically by our app, backend systems, and integrated service providers. 1.1 Account, profile, and authentication information When you create or use an account, we may collect your username, display name, email address, password authentication status, sign-in provider, Firebase user ID, profile photo, avatar, bio, country, phone number, address, social handles, referral details, account status, verification status, creator status, notification preferences, and legal acceptance records. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive information made available by that provider, such as your account identifier, email address, and name, depending on your provider settings. 1.2 Content and community activity Nervus is a community platform. We collect and store content and activity needed to operate the service, including posts, videos, images, stickers, GIF selections, Nerves, comments, replies, mentions, reactions, bookmarks, shares, likes, votes, paid votes, challenge entries, leaderboard activity, fanbase activity, reports, blocks, moderation decisions, and related metadata. Some content and profile information is public or visible to other users by design. This may include your username, profile photo, bio, public posts, public comments, replies, votes or engagement counts, challenge participation, leaderboard position, badges, and creator activity. If you use chat, direct interaction, support, or other messaging features, we may collect the message content and related metadata so the feature can work and so we can moderate abuse, enforce rules, and protect users. 1.3 Media, camera, microphone, files, and location permissions With your permission, Nervus may access your camera, photo library, videos, selected files, and microphone so you can upload profile photos, record or upload videos, create posts, create stickers, submit challenge content, and record Nerves voice notes. Nervus may request location permission on supported platforms. If you grant it, we may process location or media metadata where needed for app features, content context, fraud prevention, safety review, or verification. You can control camera, microphone, photos, files, notification, location, and tracking permissions through your device settings. 1.4 Wallet, payments, purchases, and creator information If you buy coins, spend coins, receive gems, send gifts, vote, participate in paid actions, request creator verification, or use payout-related features, we may collect transaction references, product identifiers, purchase history, wallet balances, coin and gem activity, payout eligibility, risk signals, verification status, and related audit records. Payments may be processed by Apple, Google, Paystack, Adapty, or other payment and subscription providers. We do not intentionally collect or store your full card number or full bank account details in Nervus. Payment providers may collect payment details directly under their own privacy policies. If you choose creator verification, KYC, or payout features, we may request additional information needed to verify identity, prevent fraud, comply with law, and process payments. This may include identity, contact, tax, payout, or eligibility information depending on the feature and region. 1.5 Device, usage, diagnostics, analytics, ads, and notifications We may collect device and app information such as device type, operating system, app version, installation ID, device token, Firebase Cloud Messaging token, advertising identifier where permitted, crash logs, performance data, diagnostics, IP-derived region information, and security logs. We also collect app activity and analytics such as app opens, screen views, searches, feature usage, ad views, purchases, virtual currency activity, content interactions, shares, and other events that help us run, secure, and improve Nervus. If you enable notifications, we store push tokens and notification preferences so we can send account, discussion, creator, safety, and product notifications. You can turn off notifications in the app where available or in your device settings. Nervus may show ads or rewarded ads. Advertising and measurement partners may receive device identifiers, advertising identifiers, ad interaction data, approximate location, and other information needed to deliver ads, measure ads, prevent fraud, and provide rewards, subject to your device permissions and applicable law. 1.6 Third-party and AI-assisted services Nervus uses third-party providers to operate and improve the service. These may include Firebase and Google Cloud services for authentication, database, storage, hosting, messaging, analytics, remote configuration, crash reporting, app integrity, and content safety; Google Cloud Vision for media moderation; Google Generative AI/Gemini for AI-assisted features; GIPHY for GIFs and stickers; Google Mobile Ads for ads; Adapty, Apple, Google, and Paystack for purchases and payments; and Shorebird or similar services for app updates. When you use features connected to these providers, relevant information may be processed by them so the feature can work. For example, media may be scanned for safety, GIF searches may be sent to a media provider, payment transactions may be verified by payment processors, and crash logs may be sent to diagnostics providers. 2. How we use information We use information to: - create, authenticate, and manage accounts; - operate profiles, posts, Nerves, comments, replies, mentions, search, bookmarks, sharing, fanbases, challenges, leaderboards, wallets, coins, gems, rewards, creator features, verification, paid actions, and notifications; - upload, store, display, process, transcode, moderate, and remove user content; - personalize feeds, recommendations, app content, creator discovery, and user experience; - process purchases, verify transactions, manage wallet balances, support payouts, and prevent payment abuse; - detect, investigate, prevent, and respond to spam, fraud, vote manipulation, illegal activity, harmful content, harassment, abuse, security incidents, and policy violations; - provide customer support and respond to user requests; - send service messages, security notices, product updates, and marketing communications where permitted; - measure app usage, ads, feature performance, stability, and business performance; - debug crashes, improve reliability, test features, and develop new products; - comply with laws, enforce our terms, protect rights and safety, and maintain records required for legal, tax, accounting, dispute, fraud, and compliance purposes. 3. How we share information We do not sell or rent your personal information in the ordinary meaning of those words. We may share information in the following ways: - Public and community sharing: information you choose to post publicly, including profile details, public content, public comments, engagement, challenge activity, and leaderboard activity, may be visible to other users and may be shared outside Nervus through links or screenshots. - Service providers: we share information with vendors that help us provide hosting, storage, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, messaging, moderation, AI-assisted features, ads, payment processing, subscriptions, fraud prevention, support, and app updates. - Payment and store providers: purchase, subscription, refund, transaction, and verification information may be shared with Apple, Google, Paystack, Adapty, and related payment partners. - Advertising and measurement partners: where ads, rewarded ads, attribution, or measurement are enabled, ad partners may receive identifiers and usage information needed to provide, measure, secure, and improve advertising. - Safety and moderation: we may share information with reviewers, moderators, fraud prevention providers, or law enforcement when needed to investigate abuse, enforce our rules, protect users, prevent harm, or comply with legal obligations. - Legal and compliance: we may disclose information when required by law, court order, subpoena, regulatory request, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Nervus, users, partners, or the public. - Business transfers: if Nervus is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate protections. - With your consent or direction: we may share information when you ask us to do so or when you use a feature that requires sharing. Some privacy laws define "sale," "sharing," or "targeted advertising" broadly. If applicable law treats our use of advertising, analytics, or measurement partners as a sale or sharing of personal information, you may have the right to opt out as described in Section 7. 4. User content and moderation Nervus may review, scan, classify, restrict, remove, or preserve content and activity to enforce our community rules, protect users, and comply with law. Reviews may be manual, automated, or AI-assisted. Reports, blocks, moderation signals, risk scores, deleted content references, transaction logs, and enforcement records may be retained even after content or an account is deleted if needed for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute handling, abuse prevention, or audit purposes. Do not post sensitive personal information, confidential information, or content you do not have rights to share. Public content may be copied, saved, or reshared by other users outside our control. 5. Legal bases for processing Where laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply, we process personal data under one or more of the following legal bases: - contract, to provide Nervus and features you request; - consent, where required for permissions, marketing, tracking, or optional features; - legitimate interests, such as security, fraud prevention, analytics, moderation, service improvement, and community safety; - legal obligations, such as compliance, tax, accounting, payment, safety, and regulatory requirements; - vital interests or public interest, where necessary to protect users or others from serious harm. 6. Data retention We keep information for as long as needed to provide Nervus, maintain your account, operate community features, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, prevent abuse, process payments, keep audit records, and improve safety and reliability. When you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify account information where reasonably possible. Some information may remain for limited periods in backups, logs, public content already shared by others, transaction records, moderation records, legal records, fraud prevention records, and safety records where retention is necessary or permitted by law. 7. Your choices and rights Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, object to, or withdraw consent for certain processing of your personal information. You can: - update many profile details in the app; - remove some content through available app controls; - delete your account from Settings where available; - manage notification preferences in the app or device settings; - control camera, microphone, photo, file, location, notification, and tracking permissions in your device settings; - reset or limit advertising identifiers through your device settings; - opt out of certain personalized ads where your platform or applicable law provides that option; - contact us at contactnervus@gmail.com for privacy requests. We may need to verify your identity before completing a privacy request. We may decline or limit requests where permitted by law, including where we must keep information for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, disputes, transactions, or community safety. 8. Security We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including access controls, platform security features, Firebase and cloud security tools, encrypted transport where supported, authentication, and operational safeguards. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration will never occur. 9. International transfers Nervus and our providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from your local laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections, provider compliance programs, or other lawful transfer mechanisms. 10. Children's privacy Nervus is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Where a higher age of digital consent applies, such as 16 in some regions, users must meet that age requirement or have appropriate parental or guardian consent. 11. Third-party links and services Nervus may link to websites, social platforms, payment providers, media providers, app stores, ads, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy. 12. Changes to this Privacy Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we may notify you in the app, by email, or by another reasonable method. The updated policy will apply from the date posted unless a different effective date is stated. 13.
