# 3D explorer Turn the whole ship around, pull it apart, cut it in half and look at the electronics under the plate. It works on an iPad. [Open the 3D explorer full screen](viewer/index.html){ .md-button .md-button--primary } ## How to use it | Control | What it does | |---|---| | Drag | Turn the ship | | Pinch or scroll | Zoom in and out | | Double-tap | Reset the view | | **Explode** slider | Pull all parts apart | | **Cut in half** | Slice the ship through the middle to see inside | | **Lights on** | Night mode: the LEDs glow in the diffuser | | **Under** | Look from below, at the electronics | | Part names | Tap to hide or show a part and read what it is | | **Model A / Model B** | Switch between the two designs. See [Model A or Model B?](models.md) | ## What to look for - **Model A:** the electronics are only under the base plate: the copper rails, the battery holder with its switch and the three LEDs. - **Model B:** the holder is under the plate, two wires come up through the plate to the copper rails on the power panel, and the LEDs face outward. - Panels and wings are different parts. Their slots are different lengths, so they cannot be mixed up. - Hide the panels and the nose cone to see how the plate, the rails and the diffuser fit together. ## Download the meshes The same model is available as STL files in the repository: [`3d/preview`](https://github.com/HisarCS/fablibrary/tree/main/projects/welcome-space/3d/preview). Open them in any 3D viewer or slicer preview. !!! warning "Preview, not for printing" The model is built from the numbers in the drawings and simplified: the nose-cone slots and the diffuser switch window are not shown. Print from the OpenSCAD files. Real shape and fit are confirmed only after the first prototype is built.
