The IEEE Industry Applications Society Student Branch Chapter College of Engineering Karunagappally and IEEE SPS/PHO/SSCS/MTTS Jt. SBC College of Engineering Karunagappally in collaboration with IEEE Student Branch College of Engineering Karunagappally organized the first webinar of the webinar series named “INDUX” on the topic “Student - Professional Transition” on the 3rd of April 2023 at 7:00 PM IST on the google meet platform. The speaker for the webinar was Ms.Bhagya Kunjuraman - Team Lead, Accenture Singapore. The session was hosted by Mr.Mohammed Niyaz - Chair, IEEE Industry Applications Society Student Branch Chapter College of Engineering Karunagappally. A total of 50+ students from various engineering departments took part in the webinar. She started the session by mentioning the different preparation strategies that help a candidate better before joining a particular company for his or her suitable profession. She then went through the essential prerequisites of an ideal fresher before joining a firm i.e communication in English language, asking questions regarding any concerns, adapting to the work environment, awareness of work ethics etc. A very brief talk was also given on the different stages of training given to fresh graduates joining a company. She also asked the attendees to brand themselves with a few standout qualities that they think they are good at. The importance of networking was also put forward by Bhagya so as to explore the different options available to a person who is switching from a student to a professional. She also managed to explain the idea of climbing up the different levels of professional life. At the end she shared her personal story from her first job, losing her job to company restructuring , landing a new job with the help of productive networking and connections. The session was very interactive as well with the participants asking various relevant questions in between the webinar and Bhagya gave the most appropriate answers as well. A question and answers session was also included at the end of the webinar to clear all the doubts and concerns of the participants . Finally the session was concluded by Mohammed Niyaz thanking the speaker and all the attendees for their active participation in the session.
