"To get your first steel"
The Bronze Blast Furnace is a core part of progression in Gregtech, as it is needed for getting Steel. Steel is a crucial part of machinery, as the Machine Hulls that electric machines require is made of Steel. Unlike all the other Bronze Age machines, the Bronze Blast Furnace DOES NOT REQUIRE STEAM! This fact is shown by the fact liquid pipes do not connect to it.

Construction

The Bronze Blast Furnace is the first multiblock you will build with Gregtech, and requires 32 Bronze Plated Bricks and 1 Bronze Blast Furnace block.

The Bronze Blast Furnace thus needs 100 Bronze Plates, and so 200 Bronze Ingots, as well as 40 Bricks.

You can only tell if you've built it right if you put Iron and some Coal/Charcoal/Coal Coke (Railcraft) in and it should start cooking them into Steel and have lava in the center.

NOTE: Coal, Charcoal, and Coal Coke Blocks do not work.
NOTE 2 : The blast furnace when working can and will destroy weak blocks (leaves, wood) above it (in a small radius) due the intense heat. The smoke particles it gives off represents that.
It can be easily blocked by a layer of stone or any other hard block.

Automation

Although the Bronze Blast Furnace is meant to not be automated, since it only has one accessible face, but with Gregtech's pipes and Conveyor Modules, you can :)
Standard Automation of Bronze Blast Furnace.png
Simple Automation

This design can work, but only up to 16 Iron and 1 stack of Coal/Charcoal or half a stack of Coke Coal since the normal passage (red) would fill the Bronze Blast Furnace up, and the overflow (yellow) would end up in the output chest unprocessed. The Steel would go down the green path.

With both designs, you need to make sure that the Bronze Blast Furnace already has one Iron Ingot and one Coal/Charcoal/Coke Coal already in the right slots, to avoid them going the wrong way round, as the Iron must be in the top slot, and the fuel in the bottom!

With the design below, there can be theoretically as much Iron and Coal/Charcoal/Coal Coke in the system as you like (red), as the Electric Item Sorter will sort it, so if the Bronze Blast Furnace is full, it will loop back round into the input chest (yellow), rather than going straight to the output. The Steel and Dark Ash product will still go to the output chest however (green).
The only down side of this design being its over complication, as you'll probably have a normal Blast Furnace by the time you have the resources to set this up, so the above design is in reality much more likely to be the design you use. Using Brass Item Pipes rather that Electrum too.
