## Bundled pet frames (`assets/pet/`)

The frames under `assets/pet/` are **neutral placeholder artwork generated by
this repository** with Pillow from the drawing routine in
`scripts/generate-placeholder-assets.py` (a simple round whale with adjustable
expressions). They exist so the DSH companion can run before final character
art is ready.

- The placeholders are **not** the original BigFish character frames.
- The upstream BigFish fan-art frames (from `QCYTSN/ds-local-pet` and
  `1190fasheqi/dafeiyu-pet`) are fan-made DeepSeek-related artwork with a
  separate license and a different character, so they were **not** bundled into
  this fork.
- Replace `assets/pet/` with real WhaleGirl artwork before publishing a release.
  The manifest structure in `assets/pet-manifest.json` stays unchanged; keep the
  same clip names and frame filenames so the runtime keeps working.

## Doc screenshots (`docs/images/`)

The screenshots under `docs/images/` are inherited from the upstream project and
show the upstream character. They are documentation placeholders only and should
be re-captured once real WhaleGirl artwork is available.
