# Licensing

## KeibiDrop - AGPL-3.0 (from version 0.5.0)

All source code in this repository is licensed under the [GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 only](LICENSE) (SPDX: `AGPL-3.0-only`): the Go engine, CLI and mobile bindings (`pkg/`, `cmd/`, `mobile/`, `internal/`, `tests/`, `keibidrop.proto`), the desktop UI (`rust/`), its FFI bridge (`rustbridge/`) and the scripts.

You may use, study, change and share **KEIBI**DROP under the AGPL-3.0. If you distribute it, or software that includes or links it, you must offer the complete source of the whole work under the AGPL-3.0. If you run a modified version for people who use it over a network, you must offer them its source too.

Releases up to 0.4.x were published under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 (the Go engine) and a proprietary license (the desktop UI). Those releases keep the licenses they were published under.

## Commercial License

A product that cannot meet the AGPL-3.0, such as a closed-source application that embeds or links the **KEIBI**DROP engine, needs a commercial license from **KEIBI**SOFT SRL. Contact marius@keibisoft.com.

## Slint

The desktop UI is built with [Slint](https://slint.dev), which is offered under GPL-3.0, a royalty-free license and a commercial license. In this AGPL-3.0 source, Slint is used under GPL-3.0; section 13 of both licenses allows the two to be combined. **KEIBI**SOFT's own builds use the Slint Royalty-Free Desktop, Mobile, and Web Applications License, with the attribution to Slint shown in the application.

## Android and iOS Apps - Proprietary

The **KEIBI**DROP mobile apps are **proprietary software** owned by **KEIBI**SOFT SRL, distributed as binaries through our F-Droid repository and the app stores. They embed the Go engine under **KEIBI**SOFT's own rights to that code; the AGPL-3.0 grant above does not place the apps under the AGPL-3.0.

## Name and Logo

The names **KEIBI**DROP and **KEIBI**SOFT, the **KEIBI**DROP logo, logotype, K icon, app icons and the visual design assets in `design/` and `assets/icons/` belong to **KEIBI**SOFT SRL. The AGPL-3.0 grants no rights to them.

You may:
- Share unmodified copies of an official **KEIBI**DROP release under its name and logo, for example as a package in a Linux distribution or a mirror.
- Say in plain text that your project is "based on **KEIBI**DROP" or "a fork of **KEIBI**DROP", together with the sentence "Not made by or affiliated with **KEIBI**SOFT SRL."

You may not:
- Use **KEIBI**DROP or **KEIBI**SOFT, or a name that can be mistaken for them, as the name of a modified version, product or service.
- Use the **KEIBI**DROP logo or icons on a modified version.
- Suggest that **KEIBI**SOFT SRL made, reviewed or endorses your version.

## If You Fork This Project

You may fork, modify and distribute the code under the AGPL-3.0. A modified version that you distribute, or run for others over a network, must:
1. Stay under the AGPL-3.0 and offer its complete source to everyone who receives or uses it
2. Say that it is modified, and when, as section 5 of the AGPL-3.0 requires
3. Carry its own name and visual identity, not the **KEIBI**DROP name, logo or icons
4. If it mentions **KEIBI**DROP, do so as "Based on **KEIBI**DROP. Not made by or affiliated with **KEIBI**SOFT SRL." where people see its name: the about screen, the README and the download page

## Contributions

By contributing to this project, you agree to the [Developer Certificate of Origin](DCO.txt), license your contribution under the AGPL-3.0, and grant **KEIBI**SOFT SRL the right to also license it under commercial licenses.
