Updated October 18, 2026 · Extension version 1.2.1
SideComments for YouTube rearranges the desktop YouTube watch page, placing comments on the right and recommended videos below the video. Processing happens locally in your browser.
The extension checks the current YouTube page path, identifies page elements, and measures their layout. It moves the existing comments and recommendation elements to new positions. Those elements can contain video information, comment text, public usernames, and images. The extension does not extract or save their text, create a browsing-history log, or transmit that page information to the developer or another server.
The extension saves one on/off preference, named enabled, in
Chrome's local extension storage. It is not synced through the extension
and is not sent to the developer. Change it in the toolbar popup; uninstalling
the extension removes its local extension storage.
The extension has no analytics, advertising, tracking identifiers, remote code, or backend service. It does not sell or share page information or the saved preference. All information handled by the extension is used only for its stated page-layout feature, consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
YouTube continues to load videos, comments, images, and recommendations through its own services. Actions you take on YouTube, such as posting a comment, are handled by YouTube. Google and Chrome Web Store processing is governed by their own policies, separately from this extension.
