[English](TRADEMARK.md) | [Português](TRADEMARK.pt_BR.md) # Brand and Visual Identity Policy — Kof4j & Kof We believe in the power of the open ecosystem and we want the community to participate, promote and build freely around **Kof** and the **Kof4j** distribution. That is why our brand policy is designed to remove legal barriers and encourage creative and commercial use of our identity. --- ## 1. License of the Visual Elements (Logo, Mascot and Artwork) While this project's source code is protected by the **GPLv3** license, all of our design files, logos, icons, mascots and visual identity elements contained in this repository are distributed under the license: * **Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)** This means you have explicit permission to share, copy, redistribute, alter, transform and build upon this material for **any purpose, including commercial use**, under the sole condition of giving appropriate credit to the original project. --- ## 2. Commercial Use Permissions You **may**, without prior authorization or payment of royalties to **KofLang**: * **Physical Products:** Produce and sell physical merchandise (such as t-shirts, mugs, caps, stickers, hoodies, etc.) bearing the **Kof** / **Kof4j** name or logo. * **Events and Communities:** Use the brand to create local user groups, organize events, meetups or produce educational material (courses, books, videos). * **Derived Services:** Provide consulting, technical support or hosting services using the project name to indicate compatibility (e.g., "Cloud Service for Kof"). --- ## 3. Guidelines for Derived Software (Forks) Since the code is GPLv3, you may modify the software and distribute it. If you choose to keep the original name or logo on your modified version, we only ask that you respect the following rules so as not to confuse users: * Make it clear in your repository or interface that your software is a **modified / derived version** and not the official distribution maintained by **KofLang**. * *Suggested example:* "Kof - Alternative Distribution by [Your Name/Your Company]". --- ## 4. What is NOT Permitted (Bad-Faith Restrictions) To ensure the safety of end users, the only usage restrictions are: 1. **False Association:** You may not use the brand in a way that suggests that **KofLang** endorses, sponsors, approves or has an official commercial partnership with your product or service, unless we have a formal written agreement. 2. **Exclusive Appropriation:** You may not attempt to register the **Kof** / **Kof4j** name or logo as your exclusive trademark with any intellectual property body (such as the INPI). The brand must remain free for everyone. --- *This policy may be updated in the future to reflect the growth of the community, but the principle of free commercial and community use will never be changed.*
