# 🔑 API Configuration

DVinyl relies on external APIs to fetch metadata and visuals. Follow these steps to get your API keys.
> You can have every key for **free**. 

## 🎵 Discogs API (Required)

*Used for fetching album metadata, tracklists, and market value.*

1.  Log in to [Discogs.com](https://www.discogs.com/).
2.  Go to **Settings > Developers**.
3.  Click **Generate new token**.
4.  Copy this token and paste it into your `.env` file as `DISCOGS_TOKEN`.

## 📚 Hardcover *(Optional if you don't want to add books to your collection)*

### Get an API Key
1.  Go to the [Hardcover website](https://hardcover.app/) and **create an account**.
3.  Then go to the [API section](https://hardcover.app/account/api) page and pick up your **token** (don't copy the word "bearer", e.g : `eyJhb....`)
5.  Paste it into `.env` as `HARDCOVER_API_KEY`.

## 📀 TMDB API *(Optional if you don't want to add DVDs to your collection)*

1. Go to [The Movie DataBase website](https://www.themoviedb.org/) and **create an account**.
2. Then, you can find your API key (not 'token') in [this page](https://www.themoviedb.org/settings/api)
3. Paste it into `.env` as `TMDB_API_KEY`

## 🎮 IGDB API *(Optional if you don't want to add Games to your collection)*

*Used for fetching video game metadata and covers.*

1. Go to the [Twitch Developer Console](https://dev.twitch.tv/console/apps) and log in (requires 2FA).
2. Click **Register Your Application**.
3. Name it "DVinyl", set OAuth Redirect URL to `https://localhost`, and Category to `Application Integration`.
4. Once created, copy the **Client ID**.
5. Click **New Secret** to generate a **Client Secret**.
6. Paste them into `.env` as `TWITCH_CLIENT_ID` and `TWITCH_CLIENT_SECRET`.

⚠️ **Security Note:** Never commit your `.env` file to GitHub. It contains sensitive credentials that should remain private.
