Gibran, one of behno’s founder’s favorite poets, writes about love in the below: A POEM BY KAHLIL GIBRAN You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore. You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days. Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God. But let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow. The piece’s cypress reference is merged with the seas in the collection’s embroidery and embellishment program, formulating the label’s interpretation of an animal/zebra print. In line with the brand’s signature wave detail and the poem’s reference to the seas, the collection explores the motif in an embroidery program on its newly debuted Elizabeth Baguette Mini and introduces a deep cobalt blue, a literally reference to a recurring theme of water in the piece. The color palette for the season is soft yet playful, sincere and romantic, but striking and perhaps odd, looking at the poem’s overall message of space and closeness. This season, the brand introduces its own textile development of a plastic jacquard made from single use plastic bags idly sitting in consumer’s homes. An intricate mesh is placed upon a silky base textile with erratic, modern plastic cut pieces which are meshed together to create a new, techy jacquard. True to its roots of innovation, behno aims to look at our histories while creating newness relevant for our contemporary society.
