# Um Jammer Lammy Recompiled An unofficial, noncommercial PSXRecomp compatibility project for **Um Jammer Lammy** (Europe, `SCES-01753`), also called **UmJamLamRecomp**. **[Download the Windows playtest setup kit](https://github.com/NJH-1001/UmJamLamRecomp/releases/tag/v0.1.1-playtest)** Releases are owned-input setup kits: you supply your legally obtained disc and generate the playable executable locally. No disc data, extracted game executable, generated game code, retail PlayStation BIOS, saves, captures, or analysis databases are included. OpenBIOS is included and used by default. ## Supported target - Windows 10 or 11, x86-64, Intel or AMD processor - Um Jammer Lammy (Europe), `SCES-01753` - Matching Redump-style CUE/BIN disc dump - Keyboard or SDL3-compatible controller ## Using the setup kit 1. Download the ZIP from [Releases](https://github.com/NJH-1001/UmJamLamRecomp/releases). 2. Extract the entire ZIP to a writable folder outside `Program Files`. 3. Run `UmJammerLammy_Recompiled.exe`. 4. Select your legally obtained European CUE file and choose **Generate & rebuild**. 5. Reopen the same executable after the build finishes. The setup wizard can download its supported CMake, Ninja, and Clang toolchain. Keep the extracted kit together and connect your controller before launch. The Windows binaries are currently unsigned, so Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. ## Optional enhancements - **16:9 3D View** reveals extra scenery in gameplay and real-time 3D scenes. Movies and flat menus remain 4:3. The option is disabled by default; OpenGL is recommended. - **CRT Display** provides JVC and Sony Trinitron-inspired presets. - **Clean Audio Transitions** fades the frozen retry-screen reverb tail. It is enabled by default and can be disabled for original PlayStation behavior. ## Controllers Player 1 selects a connected controller automatically. The emulated controller is locked to digital mode, with hybrid mode disabled. Bindings remain configurable. | Controller family | Support | |---|---| | Nintendo Switch | SDL3 gamepad support | | Nintendo Switch 2-compatible | PowerA Advantage Wired Controller (`20D6:A720`) tested over USB | | PlayStation 4 / DualShock 4 | SDL3 gamepad support | | PlayStation 5 / DualSense | SDL3 gamepad support | | Xbox | SDL3 gamepad support | ## Controls | PlayStation input | Keyboard | Switch / Switch 2 | PS4 / PS5 | Xbox | |---|---|---|---|---| | D-pad | WASD | D-pad / left stick | D-pad / left stick | D-pad / left stick | | Cross / Circle | J / K | B / A | Cross / Circle | A / B | | Square / Triangle | U / I | Y / X | Square / Triangle | X / Y | | L1 / R1 | Q / E | L / R | L1 / R1 | LB / RB | | L2 / R2 | Z / C | ZL / ZR | L2 / R2 | LT / RT | | Start / Select | Enter / Right Shift | Plus / Minus | Options / Share or Create | Menu / View | If a controller does not respond, check the Player 1 device selection and make sure only one game instance is running. ## Building from the repository The title source expects a compatible `psxrecomp` checkout beside this repository. The release kit already contains the matching prepared SDK and is the recommended way to playtest. Local development build commands are documented in [`docs/setup-host-build-recipes.md`](docs/setup-host-build-recipes.md). Never commit or redistribute disc data, generated game code, retail BIOS files, memory cards, saves, captures, logs, or Ghidra projects. ## Status and reporting Local verification covers disc validation, OpenBIOS boot, language and menu flow, Stage 1 gameplay, keyboard and the attached PowerA controller, native 16:9, CRT presentation, and the retry-screen audio cleanup. This is not a full-game completion claim. macOS and Linux packages still require native-host verification. [Report a problem](https://github.com/NJH-1001/UmJamLamRecomp/issues) with the release version, renderer, resolution scale, enabled mods, controller model, and reproduction steps. Do not attach copyrighted game data or local captures. ## Licensing and trademarks Project-owned code is available under the [MIT License](LICENSE). Framework and third-party components retain their own licenses. Names and trademarks identify compatibility only.
