# Privacy Policy for AO3 Companion

**Effective Date:** October 10, 2026
**Last Updated:** October 10, 2026

## 🔒 Summary
**AO3 Companion** ("we", "our", or "the extension") respects your privacy. **We collect, store, transmit, or share ZERO personal user data.** All extension features—including search presets, match penalty configurations, and multi-page prefetching—operate 100% locally inside your web browser.

---

## 1. Information We Collect
**We do not collect any personal data or usage metrics.**
- **No Personal Data**: We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, location data, or browser history.
- **No Tracking / Analytics**: We do not use any analytics services, telemetry, cookies, or third-party tracking scripts.
- **No External Servers**: We do not own or operate external backend servers.

---

## 2. Local Storage Usage
The extension uses your browser's local storage (`chrome.storage.local`) exclusively to save:
- **Search Presets**: Search filter names and parameter URLs created by you.
- **Match Penalty Settings**: Penalty configuration percentages customized by you in the popup menu.

This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.

---

## 3. Host Permissions & Network Requests
- **Archive of Our Own (AO3)**: The extension interacts with `https://archiveofourown.org/*` strictly to inject the preset control box above search results, calculate tag match precision scores in your browser memory, and prefetch additional search result pages when requested by you.
- **No Third-Party Requests**: The extension makes zero HTTP requests to any domains other than `archiveofourown.org`.

---

## 4. Third-Party Sharing
Because we do not collect any data, **we do not sell, rent, trade, or share any data** with third parties, advertisers, data brokers, or external entities.

---

## 5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy in the future, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
