# Architecture Principles ## Governing Principle > **Aegis generates intelligence and events. Applications decide transport, visualization, alerting, and consumption.** ## What Aegis Is An embedded authorization runtime that runs inside an application process. Permission checks are local function calls, not HTTP requests.
