Forbric — a clean-room unified Minecraft mod loader Copyright 2026 The Forbric Project Licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 (see LICENSE). This repository contains four modules, all Apache-2.0: forbric-kernel/ the sovereign kernel — the current loader, which runs Fabric, MinecraftForge and NeoForge mods in one instance forbric-kernel-installer/ the standalone installer for the kernel; it builds the game artifacts on the user's own machine forbric-loader/ the first-generation loader, kept as a differential oracle and still built by CI forbric-installer/ the standalone installer for that first-generation loader ================================================================================ forbric-loader ================================================================================ forbric-loader is built against Fabric Loader, which is licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. Fabric Loader Copyright 2016 FabricMC https://github.com/FabricMC/fabric-loader That substrate is NOT vendored into this repository. bootstrap.sh checks it out as a sibling directory at the pinned upstream release and applies forbric-loader/patches/fabric-loader/; forbric-loader/build.gradle then compiles its source roots alongside Forbric's own, so a jar built from this repository contains compiled FabricMC code. The substrate attribution, the clean-room statement for the Forge-side code, the no-MCP-mapping-data statement, and the list of bundled third-party dependencies and their licences are in forbric-loader/NOTICE. That file governs what a built loader jar redistributes; it is not restated here. See also forbric-loader/CREDITS.md (provenance) and forbric-loader/MAPPINGS.md (mapping sources). ================================================================================ forbric-kernel ================================================================================ The kernel does NOT compile the Fabric Loader substrate. It vendors only the small mod-facing net.fabricmc surface it needs — those files keep their original FabricMC copyright headers — and is otherwise its own clean-room code. Its substrate attribution, its clean-room statement for the Forge-side code, its no-MCP-mapping-data statement and its list of bundled third-party dependencies and their licences are in forbric-kernel/NOTICE. That file governs what a built kernel jar redistributes; it is not restated here. ================================================================================ forbric-kernel-installer ================================================================================ forbric-kernel-installer is Forbric's own code. At install time it downloads and BUILDS, on the user's own machine, artifacts that are not part of this repository — game files from Mojang and the Forge-family runtime jars — each of which keeps its own licence and its publisher's terms. Those artifacts are never published by this project. ================================================================================ forbric-installer ================================================================================ forbric-installer is Forbric's own code and depends on no third-party libraries (pure JDK). At install time it downloads and stages artifacts that are not part of this repository — game files from Mojang and Forge-family runtime jars — each of which keeps its own licence and its publisher's terms.
