# Explain and summarize code

Get a summary of the code or a comprehensive explanation of its functionality.

## Before you begin

Role required: now.assist.creator

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to any script editor enabled with ServiceNow Otto for Code.

    For example, to open a script include form, navigate to **All** > **System Definition** > **Script Includes** and select a script include.

2.  In the script editor, select a code and then select the **Otto**.

3.  To understand the purpose of the code, select **Summarize code**.

4.  From the **Use Otto to** list, select **Explain code in detail** to get a comprehensive explanation of the code’s functionality.
