# Add a business process to a goal

Associate business processes with goals to map how your organization's processes support strategic objectives.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn\_apm.apm\_user

## About this task

Link business processes to goals to document which processes contribute to achieving specific strategic objectives. You can add existing business processes or create ones directly from the goal record.

A goal is mapped to a business process using the relationship type **Realizes :: Realized by**.

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **Workspaces** > **Enterprise Architecture Workspace**.

2.  Open the Portfolio List view by selecting the Portfolio icon \(\[Omitted image "portfolio-icon.png"\] Alt text:\).

3.  Expand the Business Architecture section by selecting the expand row icon \(\[Omitted image "ExpandIcon.png"\] Alt text:\) next to **Business Architecture**.

4.  Select **Goals**.

5.  Select the goal that you want to add a business process to.

6.  Select the **Business processes** tab.

7.  Add a business process using one of the following methods.

    -   To add an existing business process:
        1.  Select **Add**.
        2.  In the Add business process window, select the business process. A suggested relationship type appears in the **Relationship type** field, but you can select a different type from the list, if needed.
        3.  Select **Add**.
    -   To create a business process, select **New** and complete the fields on the form. ## Result

The business process appears in the **Business processes** related list.
