# Add a goal to a business capability

Add existing goals to a business capability in the Enterprise Architecture Workspace, or create a goal directly from the business capability record.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn\_apm.apm\_user

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **Workspaces** > **Enterprise Architecture Workspace**.

2.  Open the Portfolio List view by selecting the Portfolio icon \(\[Omitted image "portfolio-icon.png"\] Alt text:\).

3.  Select the expand row icon \(\[Omitted image "ExpandIcon.png"\] Alt text:\) next to **Business Architecture**.

4.  Select **Business Capabilities**.

5.  Select the business capability that you want to add a goal to.

6.  Select the **Goals** tab.

7.  Add a goal using one of the following methods.

    -   To add an existing goal:
        1.  Select **Add**.
        2.  In the Add goal window, select the goal. A suggested relationship type appears in the **Relationship type** field, but you can select a different type from the list, if needed.
        3.  Select **Add**.
    -   To create a goal, select **New** and complete the fields on the form. For field descriptions, see [Create goal form](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/application-portfolio-management/eaw-create-new-goal-form.md).

## Result

The goal appears in the **Goals** related list.
