# ArchiMate shapes

ArchiMate® shapes are industry-standard elements used by enterprise architects to create diagrams that represent relationships across different domains of an enterprise. These shapes are used to model the business, application, motivation, physical, strategy, and technology layers.

## ArchiMate shapes in the Enterprise Modeling and Visualization

You can add a shape to the canvas by either selecting the shape or by dragging the shape from the **Shapes** palette to the canvas.

You can also adjust the size of shapes by selecting a shape and then drag any of its edges or corner handles. Pulling outward increases the shape's dimensions, while dragging inward reduces its size.

To change the type of relationship between two ArchiMate shapes, select the connector between them and use the **Relationship type** drop-down that appears on the connector. **Note:** : Connector ports on ArchiMate shapes are bi-directional. You can use any connector port—top, bottom, left, or right—as either an input or an output when connecting shapes in a diagram.
