# Associate an existing contact user with a consumer record

Associate a contact with a consumer record in the Customer Service Management \(CSM\) application. After the association is done, you can access the Consumer Service Portal \(CSP\) as a consumer to search for information, create cases, and more.

## Before you begin

Role required: admin

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **All** > **Customer Service** > **Customer** > **Contacts**.

2.  Select the contact from the contact record.

3.  In the login details related list, select the User lookup icon \[Omitted image "lookup-list.jpg"\] Alt text: Lookup icon. to open the list of consumer\_contact.

4.  On the contacts form, select the user to associate with the consumer record.

    **Note:** If the unified consumer is activated, you can select the user type from the interceptor form.

5.  Select **Save**.
