# Customize an existing legal hold notice template

Customize the legal hold notice template available in the base system to align with your organizational requirements.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn\_lg\_ops.legal\_config

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **All** > **Document Templates** > **All Document Templates**.

2.  Search for and select **Legal hold notice**.

3.  If a message appears about the application scope, select **here** to be able to edit the record.

    A legal hold notice opens in an editable format.

4.  Customize the template by substituting your company's name for the placeholder text and adding any additional text you want to include.

    **Warning:** Do not modify the JavaScript variables marked with $\{ \} in the legal hold template. Editing these variables might corrupt the template and prevent the legal hold notice from being generated.

5.  Select **Publish**.


## Result

A customized legal hold template is created.
