# Project opportunity

Projects facilitate creating a team consisting of multiple roles filled by multiple people. Projects can be broad in scope and be long-term or short-term in duration. Projects and other opportunity types are configured by ServiceNow admins from the Opportunity Type Configuration form.

Projects are temporary opportunities, but they can be either long-term or short-term in duration. Projects enable areas of career growth and development that can help employees gain visibility and experience. Projects can be customized to fit your needs.

- Demonstrate skills
- Innovate processes and deliverables
- Solve complex problems
- Demonstrate the ability to handle responsibility
- Lead teams

Projects enable managers to pull quickly from an available pool of resources and skills. For more information about opportunity types, see [Opportunity Type Configuration for Opportunity Marketplace](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/employee-service-management/opportunity-marketplace/opm-oppt-types.md).
