# Configure a metric definition setting record

Configure a metric definition setting record to define default values for missing operands in calculated metric definition formulas, or to set a variance base value used when calculating dynamic threshold variance. Activate the default record, or create a new record for a specific metric, metric definition, calculated metric definition, or for all of them.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn\_esg.program\_manager

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **All** > **Operational Sustainability Management** > **Administration** > **Metric Definition Settings**.

2.  To setup default values you can do one of the following:

    -   Select the default record on the list and activate the record.

        **Note:** If required you can make updates to the default record.

    -   Select **New**.
3.  On the form, fill in the fields.

4.  Select **Submit**.
