# Create a manual metric definition

Create a manual metric definition to collect the data manually for a metric.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn\_esg.metric\_manager

## About this task

In the manual metric definition, the mode of data collection is manual. An option is available to set up the qualitative and quantitative metrics.

**Note:** The forms for creating an automated metric definition or a manual metric definition point to the same sn\_grc\_metric\_definition table. The difference between the two forms is the method of the collection.

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **All** > **Operational Sustainability Management** > **Operational Sustainability Workspace** > **Metrics** > **Manual metric definitions**.

2.  Select **New**.

3.  On the form, fill in the fields.

    For information about the fields, refer to [Manual metric definition fields](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/environmental-social-governance/manual-md-reuse.md).

4.  Select **Save**.


## Result

The metric definition is saved in the Metric definitions list.
