# Authorize targets

Authorize a target record based on the overall security posture determined by the security officer.

## Before you begin

**Note:** Starting with version 10.1.0, the NIST RMF Use Case Accelerator will be supported only for customers who currently use the product. New and existing customers should consider using the GRC: Continuous Authorization Monitoring application. Role required: sn\_irm\_nist\_rmf.security\_official, sn\_irm\_nist\_rmf.risk\_executive, or sn\_irm\_nist\_rmf.security\_officer

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **All** > **NIST RMF** > **Authorize** > **Targets**.

2.  Search for the target using the **Name** or **Profile** fields.

3.  Select and open the target record.

4.  From the NIST RFM section, review the **Approval Status** field.

5.  Click **Request Approval**.


## Result

The approval is triggered for the target.

If you are an approver, use the **My Approvals** module to review the approval request.
