# Generate reports through AI for document designer

Generate reports from ServiceNow instance data by using prompts through the AI for document designer directly within Microsoft Word.

## Before you begin

The ServiceNow Document designer add-in must be installed. For more information, see [Install the ServiceNow Document Designer add-in](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/governance-risk-compliance/grc-common-functions/install-document-designer.md).

Role required: sn\_grc\_doc\_design.reader

## Procedure

1.  Open the required document in Microsoft Word.

2.  On the ribbon, select **AI reporting assistant**.

    The Document designer add-in opens with the **Now Assist** panel.

3.  Enter a prompt in the reply field or select from the prebuilt suggestions displayed in the panel.

4.  If this is the first time you're adding content in a new conversation, respond to the prompt asking whether you want to track all content added to the document within this conversation.

5.  Review the generated plan and indicate whether you want to accept it.

    -   To insert the generated content into your Microsoft Word document, select **Approve**.
    -   To return to the prompt for further refinement, select **Make changes**.
    -   To discard the plan, select **Cancel**.
6.  View all AI-generated content inserted during this conversation by selecting **Manage content**.
