A third-party primary contact cannot deactivate their own account. **Important:** This task applies to Third-Party Risk Management \(TPRM\) with Smart Assessment Engine \(SAE\) usage only. Portal contact deactivation procedures may differ in Classic TPRM environments. Role required: third-party primary contact. ## About this task Deactivating a contact removes their access to the third-party portal but preserves their record for audit purposes. This action is distinct from removing a contact from a specific engagement, which removes access to that engagement only while leaving portal access intact. ## Procedure 1. Navigate to **My Team** from the home page. 2. Select the contact you want to deactivate. 3. On the contact detail page, select **Deactivate Contact**. 4. Confirm the action. The contact can no longer log in to the portal. Their record is preserved for audit purposes. If the **Deactivate Contact** button does not appear, verify that you are logged in as a third-party primary contact and that you are not attempting to deactivate your own account. ## What to do next In SAE environments, before deactivating a third-party primary contact, consider reassigning any questionnaires they own to another contact. If a deactivated contact is the questionnaire owner, reassign ownership to another contact before deactivation to ensure the questionnaire can be submitted.
